Abstract submission guidelines
1. Submission requirements
  • E-mail the abstract submission form to registration@hkideas.org
  • For multiple abstract submissions, one abstract per form
  • Maximum 300 words
  • Tables, figures and graphs are only permitted within the allocated space
  • File size less than 2.5 Mb
  • The abstract should be submitted in English, traditional Chinese or simplified Chinese
  • Font: Times New Roman font, 10 point size (for English) PMingLiu 10 point size (for traditional Chinese) or SimSun 10 point size (for simplified Chinese)
  • Space: Single line, no lines or space between paragraphs
Important: The Abstract content has to be new and not previously presented or published

2. Content requirements
Kindly note that it is important to follow the instructions given when writing your abstract as the abstracts will be published in the format submitted. Authors carry sole responsibility of the look of their published abstract. The secretariat will not provide proofreading.

Heading of the abstract:
  • Submitting author, institution, country and contact (Initials first followed by family name,eg.JCK Peterson.)
  • Presenting author followed by asterisk (*)
  • Title of the abstract , which indicates the nature of the investigation in capitals
Kindly note: Trade names cannot be mentioned in the title. However, trade names in brackets will be accepted in the body of the text.

Content and structure
  • The content must be informative, contain new data and meet ethical standards.
  • The abstract must include: Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusions, References (if cited)
  • Table or picture can be included within the space given. Max image with 500 pixels – max image height 500 pixels-, allowed type file: gif, jpg
  • The content must be in line with the title and the topics
  • Ensure that your abstract does not contain spelling, grammatical or scientific errors. Corrections will not be possible after the deadline.
Kindly note: If the research was supported by a pharmaceutical company you must indicate in your e-mail the company's role in analyzing the data and preparing the abstract

3. After the submission
  • An acknowledgement of receipt will be e-mailed within 3 working days
  • The Scientific committee will review the abstracts and judge them according to the relevance of the Symposium, objectivity of statements, description, suitability of methods and aims, conclusions by objective results, ethics, scientific value, potential clinical value, originality of work and overall impression
  • The submitting authors will be informed of acceptance or refusal at the e-mail address provided during submission no later than April 8, 2011 (It is the author's responsibility to ensure that the e-mails reach them)
  • Poster presentation instructions and number will be sent together with the letters of acceptance

4. Poster Awards
Award(s) will be awarded by the Organizing Committee for outstanding poster presentations in any oral/dental or related fields, presented at the 2nd HKIDEAS. The poster should be based on original and previously unpublished basic, translational, or clinical research work. All presenters of posters displayed at the Congress who have pre-registered will be automatically entered for the award.

An expert panel of judges will review the posters and select the winner(s). The panel of judges' decision is final.
